Grant Wood AEA Open Minds, Open Doors Conference

23nd year of STEM conference for middle school girls

in Cedar Rapids.

The Open Minds, Open Doors Conference encourages girls to pursue future career fields with foundations in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Approximately 500 girls in 7th-8th grades representing schools in the Grant Wood AEA service area will participate.

Conference workshops are facilitated by approximately 100 professional women volunteer presenters working in STEM-related careers in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor.

The Open Minds, Open Doors Conference originated in 1996 as an initiative of the Cedar Rapids Branch of the with support from . For information about the conference, contact Susie Green, GWAEA student program specialist.

Grant Wood Area Education Agency provides educational services for 32 public school districts, 22 approved non-public schools, and 12 non-approved private schools in Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington counties.
