  • Dates: June 15-26 (Session A) and July 6-17 (Session B)
  • Tuition: $265/student
  • Early Bird Class Fee (Optional): $50/student per session

All sessions are held at , Cedar Rapids, Iowa and run 8:30-11:50 a.m., Monday through Friday.

Optional Early Bird Class is available 7:45-8:20 a.m., Monday through Friday.


About College for Kids

Grant Wood AEA's College for Kids is a summer program offering advanced level academic and fine arts courses in the college setting to eligible talented and gifted students who have completed 6th, 7th or 8th grade. Through the College for Kids experience, students are offered advanced or specialized curricula, and have the opportunity to further explore a hobby or a topic of interest not typically available in middle school general education.

Eligibility Requirements

Enrichment:  Eligible students will have completed 6th, 7th or 8th grade by summer 中国体彩app官方下载; are enrolled in a school or 中国体彩app官方下载school in the Grant Wood AEA region; and meet at least one of the following criteria below:
    •    Have been identified for/participate in a Gifted and Talented Program in his/her school district
    •    Have scored within the new Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) suggested scale scores in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and/or Science.  Students who earned an “Advanced” Achievement Level on the ISASP in any of these areas are automatically qualified for College for Kids.

Schools not taking the ISASP will continue to identify eligible College for Kids students based on the following guidelines: 1) have been identified for/participate in a gifted education program at school, or 2) have scored at the 85th percentile rank or above (national norms) on a standardized achievement test (Iowa Assessment) in one of the following areas: English Language Arts total, science total, math total, or complete composite/core total.

Art:  Eligible art students have completed 6th, 7th or 8th grade by summer 中国体彩app官方下载; are enrolled in a school or 中国体彩app官方下载school in the Grant Wood AEA region; and meet the criteria below:
    •    Have demonstrated/expressed an interest in fine arts,
    •    Have demonstrated excellent fine arts ability or performance, and
    •    Have demonstrated the ability to work cooperatively in a classroom setting.

Note: Some students who are nominated for the Art program have also been nominated for the Enrichment program. The two programs run concurrently.
